Oranges at Halftime

Title Graphic

There's no denying it, rugby's in our DNA. It’s a binding force in New Zealand culture and has helped shape the country and our culture into what it is today.

This relationship between rugby and Kiwi culture is explored in a fabulous touring exhibition, Oranges at Halftime, visiting towns throughout New Zealand during Rugby World Cup 2011.

Focusing on the period of our history since 1950, Oranges at Halftime celebrates the dads who coached kids from their first games through First XV and Junior As, and the mums who selflessly served pies and Fanta in the club rooms and washed muddy shorts so they were pristine white with Sunlight soap. It celebrates the rain, hail or shine Saturday morning matches, the community and provincial involvement, the traditions, the lasting friendships and the memories.

Engaging and often humorous, Oranges at Halftime is reflective of the grassroots origins of New Zealand’s relationship to the game and how rugby has become an all-encompassing way of life for Kiwis. If you're a local, you'll have a lot of fun reminiscing; if you're an overseas visitor, Oranges at Halftime will help unravel what makes us Kiwis tick. The stories and themes threaded through the exhibition, while distinctly individual, will resound with everybody who has lived with, and loved, the game.

Oranges at Halftime is coming to a town near you!
